Dr. Marcia Fukunaga
Dr. Marcia Fukunaga received a BSc from UVic and later attended UBC for both her Kinesiology and Medical degrees. She then moved to Nanaimo to pursue speciality training in Family Medicine. She started at the Caledonian Clinic as a resident and because of the amazing staff and colleagues she joined the Caledonian right after she graduated.
Dr Fukunaga is incredibly proud and excited to be your doctor! She believes the doctor-patient relationship functions well if it is based on mutual trust, honesty and good communication. She does her best to take good care of her patients and hopes to motivate and empower them to also take good care of themselves and their health.
Dr. Fukunaga is passionate about providing comprehensive care to our community’s adolescents and young adults. She enjoys her work at the Youth Wellness Centres, located at the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre and John Barsby Secondary School.
Dr. Fukunaga also provides assessment and provision of medical assistance in dying (MAiD). She finds this work to be rewarding as well as a real honour and privilege.
